SHOP OF THE WEEK 17th ST BOARDSHOP
Here we are again giving props to the people who are holding it down for the core shredders out there. This weeks Shop Of The Week goes out to 17th Boardshop in Huntington Beach. The shop is owned and run by two kingpins in the Huntington surf scene Bud Llamas and Jerry Mulford. Bud, the unofficial mayor of Huntington Beach, has been killing it in the professional surf world since the ‘70’s and was the very first NSSA champion. Bud’s legend is now cemented in surfing history literally, as his hands and feet were placed in the Surfing Walk of Fame on Main Street in Huntington Beach. Jerry another homegrown HB ripper, was a pier rat in his grom days and grew to be part of the local HB surf crew who enforced proper etiquette on the peaks surrounding the pier. Both Jerry and Bud recently got together and decided it was time to open a grass roots surf shop (November 2009) dedicated to providing the surf community with sick surf and skateboards at prices the average joe can afford.
The shop is located close to Ethel Dwyer middle school, and is bordered by a donut shop and a mexi food joint, so there’s always some groms or friends hanging at the spot, grinding on a burrito or jiving on the boards and how the waves are looking. 17th Boardshop carries a great line of …LOST clothing, …LOST Surfskates, and also accepts custom …LOST surfboard orders. …LOST sales rep Benny, who’s a HB lurker himself, just hooked Jerry up with a new …LOST Blunt surfboard, so when you see buckets coming out the back at the pier, look for the black rails and the …LOST logo, you’ll know you just got sprayed by a local legend. If you’re looking for a new board or some sick new surf gear, get off Main Street and head to 17th Street Surf Shop and Jerry or Bud will get you dialed in and ready for some fun in the water.
