The judges didn't give it to him and he ended up losing by less than a point. Gorkin ripped the whole contest and was the standout all week but came up just short in the end, a good result non-the-less. Gorkin had this to say despite the close call, “I’m psyched, the conditions were better, and I was stoked to be able to surf a contest at Sebastian and put some cash in my pocket”. Others were not so gracious - The Ultimate Grueler had this to say about Gorkin's performance, "1ST Place for the Crowds and 2nd Place for the Paper and Pencil Squad". To watch live or get complete results CLICK HERE. Gorkin dominated his round 2 heat with a combined heat total of 13.67 and is looking pretty solid going into round 3. Gorkin's throwaways of 5.43 and 5.4 would still have been enough to win the heat. Also surfing in round 2 today was Chase Wilson, who went down in a close call, and local boy Eddie Guilbeau who came back at the end of his heat to take the win and move into round 3.
