10/29/09: 18 year-old Hawaiian rookie Coco Ho has won the 2009 Womens Portugal WCT defeating Chelsea Hedges in the final. Riding her magic 5'5" Stealth model Mayhem shape in the 2-3 foot surf Coco took out former World Champ Sofia Mulanovich in the quarters and then current world #2 Silvana Lima in the semi-finals to make it to her first WCT final. If you look at the point totals it wasn't even close, Coco completely dominated everyone she surfed against. It also doesn't hurt that Dad is possibly the world's #1 surf coach and he's on the beach for advice and inspiration. Coco is now rated 3rd and right in the title hunt with three contest remaining and two in Hawaii. Her family does know just a little about winning world titles in Hawaii. Congrats Coco and good luck.
