Wednesday November 4th was another episode of Wet Wednesday at Zenbu in Cardiff. This weekly event is a good old grassroots meet and greet with the local community, surf shops and social drinkers who like free gear and a good buzz. With …Lost sponsoring this particular evening, no one was safe from having “one too many” as the sushi rolls and PBR tallboys flowed like wine. Of course nothing goes off without a hitch, as Rob Machado’s new movie The Drifter was premiering at La Paloma Theater down the street at the same time. Cardiff is Mob’s territory, and the sheep are loyal. Much to our enjoyment, Team Hurley came back to Zenbu only to be subjected to the mockery of the Gorkin “stretched underwear ad” found around every corner. The crowd finally got to enjoy a real surf video as 5’5” REDUX played on the big screens for the remainder of the night, while we gave out LOST boardshorts, shirts, hats and bags to everyone having a good time. The fish were even getting into the act, and some were constantly looking for the exit. Sushi chef Tyler doled out massive amounts of high-grade sushi rolls (maybe why the fish were trying to leave) to the beautiful people in the crowd, while Brendo ruled behind the bar.
