2007 WCT ROSTER Who is gonna qualify? Well - the top 15 of the WQS and the top 27 of the WCT (after Pipeline) make it. The WQS will take the top 18 guys since 3 of them will most likely double qualify (Pattachia, Logie and Ribas). Sitting at 18th is Luke Munro.

2006 WQS FINAL EVENT AT SUNSET - PARKO WINS 12/6/2006: Joel Parkinson has won the 2006 World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach in good 8-10 foot surf. Placing second was 18-year-old South African Jordy Smith followed by Andy Irons and Fred Patacchia. Parko started the final with a solid score then sealed the deal with a perfect 10 near the end. Jordy Smith put up a fight at the start scoring a high 8 on a nice barrel and lead the heat until Parko scored that perfect 10. Andy and Fred just never really got going. AI rips. 2 sick turns outscore 5 ok turns. We like that. Taj ripped almost just as hard and it was close. Poor Mikey Pikon- probably underscored and it would have been a shame had he NOT fallen on his third turn - cuz it would have been underscored. The LOST Truck Tour Brazil 10/26/2006 Last weekend Pat Duffy and Chad Shetler jumped on a short 14- hour flight to Sao Paulo Brazil to skate a mini ramp..
It was called The LOST Truck Tour with a 4ft high- 12ft wide mini ramp on the back of a 18-wheeler semi truck.
It might sound a little sketchy and that’s because it was!

Jereme Rogers Leads Goofy Team to its Second GvR Victory
At the start of the third annual etnies’ GvR, Goofy and Regular were tied with one GvR win each, and on Sunday night at the close of the third annual GvR the Goofies won their second title. This was the closest GvR yet with the Goofy team only beating the Regular team by 39 points!
Team Goofy was on fire with Jereme Rogers landing more tricks than nearly everyone combined, including a mighty impressive switch tre down the 11 set. Ronnie Creager switch hardflipped the 11 set, Nyjah Huston (this year’s Team Goofy MVP) bust
BRASIL WCT Australian Mick Fanning has won the 2006 Nova Schin WCT in Brasil defeating defending champ Damien Hobgood in sloppy overhead beach break. With his second win of the year he now moves into second place in the world. Not that it really matters because Slater already has the title.
2006 WARM WATER CLASSIC Well at least that's what everybody was calling the Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz this year. The past couple of years the contest has been plagued by mediocre surf and bad weather, but that wasn't the case this year with the event scoring a solid week of above average air and water temps with a solid swell. The Australians dominated this year with Toby Martin winning the pro event and Dion Atkinson taking the pro junior event. With good waves throughout the week the level of surfing stepped up a notch. RAUL FLEES THE US Raul "Rool" Hernandez has officially left United States fleeing for his home country of Venezuela. Raul had been hanging around San Clemente for the last six years, fixing dings, surfing and teaching English. His green card, or lack there of, probably expired five years ago but we never asked. Raul decided to return to his homeland after the Venezuelan Surf Team recently found their missing 2000 National Champ while visiting for the ISA Surfing Games in Huntington, that and the US Immigration Department was probably getting pretty close.

SAN MIGUEL SURF FIESTA WQS 2 STAR: CONTEST CANCELED BUT MASON RIPS The 2006 San Miguel Surf Fiesta WQS 2* held in Baja California was canceled after the round of 64 this weekend due to small surf but not before Mason Ho showed the contestants and contest organizers just how contestable the conditions actually were (well for him at least). Surfing in just two heats before the contest was canceled Mason managed to post the two highest scores of the contest by getting a 9 plus ride in each of his heats. ISA SURFING GAMES EVENT FACTS Contest Format:
The World Surfing Games follows a standard ISA double elimination format. All surfers compete in the qualifying rounds. The top two surfers per heat advance to the next qualifying round while the third and fourth place move to the repercharge rounds. For surfers in the repercharge rounds first and second place per heat will advance to the next round of the repercharge while third and fourth are eliminated from the event. RANDAZZO BEATS GESLER IN JERSEY 10/16/06Dean Randazzo defeated Andrew Gesler to win the Fox's New Jersey "My Spot" contest just weeks after recovering from more cancer treatment. Both the local boys were ripping in the final but it was the older Randazzo who ended up with the win over the younger Gesler. Congratulations Dean.

10/12/2006: Quarter-finals 1-3 were ran today at the nearby beach break Bakio. Advancing into the semi-finals was Bobby Martinez over Andy Irons. Kelly Slater also advanced out of his heat and will face Joel Parkinson in the first semi. World #2 Taj Burrow has yet to surf his quarter final heat against Dean Morrison which will most likely take place tomorrow.

9/28/2006: Round 3 completed. World #2 Taj Burrow was defeated today by Brasilian Pedro Henrique virtually insuring that Kelly Slater will win an eighth world title. Andy Irons is now the only person with a realistic shot at stopping Slater and to do that he would have to get on a serious roll the rest of the year. Andy has won this event the last three years so you never know.
9/25/2006: San Clemente local Nate Yeomans won the Newport Beach Pro WQS 2* yesterday in headhigh wind blown conditions at 56th Street. Taking second was last year's winner Nathaniel Curran follewed by Dane Reynolds and Dustin Quizon. The day started out with offshore conditions but by the time the final came around the wind was howling from the north but there was still plenty of swell. Nate secured the final after he scored a 7.75 about half-way through.

Chris Ward placed 5th in the Lowers WCT losing to eventual contest winner Bede Durbidge by less than a point. Bede Durbidge beat Kelly Slater in the final.
With a solid two to three foot south swell on the rise the first event of the Macy’s E-Series showcased some of Hawaii’s best surfers. From north shore veteran Kahea Hart to up and coming female phenomenon Carissa Moore, the field was stacked, and everyone had their eye on the first place prize of a $1,000.00.

UNSOUND PRO 2006 BRIAN TOTH WINS The Unsound Pro just went down out in Long Island, New York with really clean head high conditions. This year the shop handed out $10,500.00 for first place, it's the biggest first place check to ever get handed out on the East Coast so it's safe to say everyone was frothing over that check more then ever. NEANDERTHAL BRAWL PRO MINI RAMP JAM RESULTS! The $25,000 mini ramp contest at Surf Expo was good times! Pro skaters coming from all over to try to take the cash, heads where going for it! With a Team Pain built mini ramp, the contest was on.
The qualifying heats were cut down to the top ten for the finals, each rider took a run until they fell, followed by a 20 minute jam session and the finished off with each rider taking another run until they fell.

The staff over at Surfing couldn't identify the guy getting burned by three groms at Lowers, but there was no way we were missing this one. Alberga finally gets his first shot in Surfing Magazine and doesn't even get his name printed, so we figured we'd let the world know it's him back there.
KING OF THE ROAD TOUR Lost Energy Drink has partnered with the Darkstar team for the King of the Road Tour. The tour is similar to a Road Rules/Scavenger hunt. There are 4 skate teams that start on the East Coast and have to do different tricks and missions everyday until they reach the West Coast. The tour is put on by Thrasher Magazine. The Lost Energy/Darkstar team is going to be sending daily updates from the road courtesy of Chet Thomas.

TRIGGER GUMM WALKS AWAY FROM WORLD RECORD CRASH. Attempting to break a world record by jumping 315 feet San Clemente local Trigger Gumm came up a little short on his landing. In front of an estimated 5,000 people crowd in Miami, Oklahoma Trigger hit the ramp at about 90 mph and launched about 70 feet in the air before he landed on the top of a dirt ramp, lost control and crashed over the handlebars. Promoter/Organizer Tony Holden said Gumm's bike may have had a carburetor problem that kept it from reaching the speed needed for the record-breaking jump. LOST SURFBOARDS AND MATT BIOLOS TO BE FEATURED ON TV SHOW 7/18/2006: (Sunday July 23rd at 11:00 AM) and again on Wednesday (July 26th at 7:00 PM and 11:30 PM) the Lost Surfboard factory and Matt Biolos will be featured on the show “Inside the O.C.” on KOCE Channel 6 in Southern California.
The show is a 30 minute program on the demise of Clark Foam and its impact on Orange County. Biolos gives a blow by blow on the board building process from the shaping room to the board factory and everything in between. He also discusses the restructuring of the surfboard business post Clark Foam.

ETNIES FIGHT CLUB RESULTS 7/13/2006 Etnies ran the first event of their Fight Club Series today at Riviera Beach in San Clemente. The event was pretty cool they started the man on man heat draw by pulling all of the names out of a hat. Every heat until the final had a regular footer going up against another regular footer or a goofy footer going up against another goofy footer. So by the end of the semis you end up with one Regular footer and one Goofy footer left in the draw for the final. LOST TV? Well not exactly but we have been on TV a lot lately. Hoobastank (we don’t have a clue what that means) lead singer Doug Robb was spotted wearing a Lost T-Shirt while performing on the Jay Leno show the other day and Trigger Gumm was featured on the Chris Angel “Mind Freak” show on A&E.
Chris Angel (the magician) was shown training with Trigger. The story of the show is that in a matter of weeks Trigger was going to teach Chris Angel how to pull off a 100ft jump and break through a ring of fire, which he did.
LOST SURFBOARD DEMO MANHATTAN BEACH 7/17/2006: Photos going up so check them out. The demo once again scored some good surf and weather at Manhattan. The waves were 2-3 feet, the water was warm and the beach was packed. We would have had some photos of us bar-b-q-ing but Benny forgot to buy the food.

Hurricane Ophelia graced everyone with her presence by sending flawless 6-8ft face beach break peaks. Some who witnessed the Men’s Open Pro final said, “It was the best WQS final ever!” And it was just what Ryan Carlson needed to win the “Best Wave” at the air show and take the Red Bull Tow-at contest. Tropical Storm Alberto departed the East Coast and left Hudson Street in Harvey Cedars with 2-3’ surf. IAN WALSH WINS …on his quiver of Mayhem shapes. Maui big wave charger and all around ripper Ian Walsh won O’Neill’s “The Mission” in Tahiti on June 3rd. The contest was a mobile event with the surfers staying on a massive yacht, the Huamana. The winner was determined by video review after a week long trip through French Polynesia. The eight surfers invited voted on each other’s video section to determine the winner at the end of the week. Hobie Grand Opening June 3rd 2006 Hobie’s grand opening was good times! With the skate park, the opening of the water park, and live bands what more could you ask for? Companies such as Billabong, Matix, Quicksilver, and the coolest company of them all, LOST, had tents with posters, stickers and free swag to give away. JOSH BORDEN MAKES IT TO THE FINALS 5/26/06 17 year old LOST team rider Josh Borden made it to the finals of the Pro Tec Pool Party. Josh stayed on his board through out the contest and made tricks like this kickflip in the round bowl, 540's and kickflip indy's.
Josh ended up 8th and Jimmy the Greek ended up 10th.

Trigger Jumped an easy 180ft while Ox was doing back-flips all with there chicken outfits on. Although they had to make a few adjustments on the outfits before they could go fast enough without catching wind under the wings and almost flying off there bikes. The eight annual Gumball 3000 Rally was held this may 2006 and set a milestone by taking the 120 participants through 3 continents in 8 days.
The Gum Ball 3000 is a 3-stage race, 3000 mile driving route that incorporates Europe, Asia and the United States. The 2nd to last stop
ended up at the Hard Rock hotel in Las Vegas. Tony Hawk has been involved in the race the last three years and this year decided to put on a skate demo. The 5th annual "Fish Fry" will be held this Sunday May 7th at Oceanside Harbor. The event is all about testing the newest (or oldest) fish designs, grilling some meat, hanging out on the beach and talking board design. The event was created by South Coast Surf Shop owner Eric 'Bird' Huffman and Oceanside board guru Sean Mattison two of the most well-informed and outspoken fish fans.
Lost Surfboards is coming down with a bunch of boards for anyone to ride if they so please.

4/20/2005 Johnny "Armani" Perkins scores the whole 2005 Ralph Armani ad campain. If you do not know Perkins you probably dont surf. For those of you that do not know anything about John, he is the one that captured Gorkin's one and only (actually he's done about a dozen of them). For the past years John has been slaving away for LOST and OAKLEY behind the camera trying to make a name for himself as a videographer. Little did Johnny Armani know that he was born sitting on a gold mine. He was actually discovered this year by Ford Models'
The party went off on Saturday day and night. Kinda felt like a mini mini Woodstock - or at least a gas station parking lot near Woodstock. Our drunk photographer didn't manage to capture the party's longest legs. All in all about 600 people came by throughout the day with about 150 packed into the parking lot to see the bands. LOST AT CANES IN MISSION BEACH 04/27/06 Canes down in Mission Beach was off the hook on April 23rd. Scott Russo (the lead singer of Unwritten Law) and his girlfriend Aimee Allen performed together live for the first time last Sunday night. They played along with Red Gun Radar who you can hear on KROQ, as well as Rice Rokit and The Strangers Six. LOST, Jonas Productions, and Osiris Shoes were part of this event. Bartenders in Lost gear, Lost stickers flying from the sky, Lost banners, Lost giveaways, even though it was a Sunday night, San Diego locals didn’t want to miss this show. All thanks to Jonas.

Braunton School continued their domination of the annual Lost/Body Glove British Schools Championships to seal their third victory in a row at Woolacombe Bay, UK last weekend. The North Devon School was so strong that their B Team placed third and only the mighty Newquay School Tretheras challenging for honours.
Fourth place went to another Newquay school, Treviglas and fifth went to a strong Team from Jersey, De La Salle School who dominated the bodyboard divisions.

TREASURE CHEST PRO AM SURF CONTEST Stuart, Florida, April 12th, 2006 -- Martin County's first Pro surfing competition in over 20 years was a major success, according to Jimmy Moren, manager of Surf Central surf shop in Stuart. Surfers such as Asher Nolan, Christian Fletcher, Tommy O'Brien, Ronnie Geising, Blake Jones and Nick Guilarte came to Stuart Public Beach on April 11th and 12th to try n win some skins ($175) in Matt Kechele's pro event. It was held in choppy shoulder to head high surf (the contest organizers called it 6 to 8-foot swells).

GUILARTE LOST PARTY Party boy Nick Guilarte was stupid enough (or smart enough, depending on how you look at it) to let us throw a party at his house while we were in Florida. The "Dirty South" vibe was definitely happening with gold and silver teeth, rap, and plenty of cheap beer. Rumor has it that one late night Lost associate was seen mistaking Nick's kitchen trash can for the toilet.

4/11/06 Last weekend was the grand opening of mega surf/skate shop SUN DIEGO in mission beach!
The shop took over the old Emerald City surf building right next door to the carnival and famous WAVEHOUSE. So needless to say, this is a prime location to hold a skate demo and surf WaveHouse demo and they did just that!

THE 2006 LOST EL PASO INVITACIONAL 4/4/06 The 2006 Lost El Paso Invitacional (for those of you who don’t speak Spanish that means invitational) is set to run this Saturday April 8th in Peru. The contest is a big wave invite-only event held annually in Peru with a waiting period from March through April. Contest organizers wait for the biggest and best conditions before holding the event. 48 competitors are invited to the one day event with the winner taking home $1,000 in prize money and bragging rights for a year. BASNETT 2nd IN THE WQS FINAL AT MARGARET RIVER 4/02/06 Lost South African ambassador Ricky Basnett placed 2nd in the finals in the 4* Margaret River WQS. In a controversial final Occy won after he collided with finals leader Jake Patterson in the dying minutes. Patterson was called with the interference and moved from 1st to 3rd in the final. Many people believed it was a double interference which would have given Ricky the win. WHILE WE WERE GONE... Every day people complain of the conditions and how it never gets good anymore. I mean it's the same story everyday. It gets pretty old after a while. I mean even on the good days you are going to hear that same old eggy fu#$ing shoulder hopping longboarder crying about the water being to cold or about how crowded it is, just barking about anything and everything. Maurer, in his first contest in years since he was an NSSA Nationals finalist, decided to enter the event to the laughs of all his friends. Cayman Islands 3/21/06 Through out the years the LOST skate team has traveled to some great places. This last trip to the Cayman Islands may have topped them all. With a good crew that included Pat Duffy, Kyle Berard, Jimmy The Greek, Chad Shetler, Billabong team rider Brian Patch, photographer from The Skateboard Mag “ Rodent” and capturing it all on film Paul Goncalves with Fuel Tv. Swimming with sting rays, sharks and multi-colored tropical fish in the morning and skating the biggest skatepark in world in the afternoon.

ERIC GEISELMAN WINS THE JACKS LOST PRO JUNIOR 26 March 2006: The final day of the LOST Pro Junior Event #1 at Huntington Beach, CA has been completed. The final was Dylan Graves, Eric Geiselman, Cory Arrambide, and Nick Rozsa. Rozsa started the final with a 9 while Geiselman racked up a couple of decent rides. In the dying seconds of the final Rozsa took off on a wave needing only a 3.25 to win. He milked the wave to the beach but came up short scoring only a 2.85 as time ran out. Tripdavon is almost halfway through their tour, while the debauchery is only beginning. Their tour manager, German hellman Freider Geiger who was Pennywise’s road manager for many years, has been showing them the ropes and the boyz have been taking full advantage of the perks of playing sold out shows every night. Rock n Roll Hall of Famer Eric Burdon has invited them on stage almost every night for his encore of Johhny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”, and everyone is having a great time. Check the photos for the goods.
PAT DUFFY FIRST HAND 3/12/2006 Pat Duffy is in Florida filming his First Hand on Fuel TV with Kyle Berard and Chad Shetler. First Hand is a half hour show on Pat skating and doing what he does.. Next stop on the Pat Duffy Journey is the Cayman Islands. The Black Pearl is home of the world's largest concrete skate park, it's 52,000 square feet. WARD AND FRIENDS SCORE EPIC GOLD COAST Chris Ward failed to get much of a warm-up before the WCT on the Gold Coast of Australia due to a nagging ankle injury, but following the contest Ward’s ankle finally felt better and he returned to classic Ward form just in time to score some epic Gold Coast tubes with his friends. CARLSON AND GESLER GO TO PUERTO RICO MARCH 12-While most of you guys sat at home and prayed for surf others went out and got it. While California was in the middle of a three week flat spell, the boys started going crazy so they bought some tickets to Puerto Rico to go get some waves. Carlson has never been there and Gesler had only been there once but it was when he was a grom so both of them didn't really know their way around the island - it made the trip a little more entertaining. EL PASO LOST INVITATIONAL CONTEST SCORES BIG IN PERU 5/2005...yes we know it's a little late. The 2005 El Paso Lost Invitational Contest held in Peru at a spot previously unridden in competition scored epic conditions. The contest was an invite only and had a waiting period of two months. The long waiting period payed off with 8-12 foot waves that competitors were raving about. Taking the win in epic conditions was Latin American champion Gabriel Villaran. LEILANI GRYDE MAKING A RUN FOR THE WCT - LEADING THE WQS BREAKING NEWS. Feb 19th 2006 - Lost Surfboards rider Leilani Gryde is now ranked 1st on the WQS after making the finals at the 4* WQS event in Brasil. Leilani finished 4th at the Costao de Santinho 4* WQS held at Florianopolis in Brasil. With her fourth place finish Leilani gained 1005 points and jumped to 1st place in the overall 2006 Women's WQS ratings. Lost riders Hizunome Bettero(BRA) and Ricky Basnett(ZAF) both had great showings in their first major WQS contest of the year. Bettero placed 3rd in the contest and is currently ranked 9th in the overall WQS standings. RANDAZZO WINS HIS OWN CONTEST 8 FEBRUARY 2006: Dean Randazzo won the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation’s Fifth Annual Surf For A Cause Pro-Am. This year's Surf For A Cause raised over $24,000 and was co-sponsored by Lost. The money raised will aid someone -- usually a surfer -- with cancer who is lacking medical benefits. ...Lost, in conjunction with Red Bull (we know they're our competitor but we don't have Lost Energy drink in Brasil YET), held an amateur surf contest at Fernando de Noronha in Brasil from January 13th-15th.
The contest was a specialty invite-only event. Organizers selected ten amateur invitees between the ages of 13-17, one from each region of Brasil. The "ten turns to the beach" format was thrown out and scoring was based on the competitor's best two airs and barrels.

In September some guy got attacked by a Great White in Northern California, Greg Long got ejected off of his board by one at Rocky Point a couple of years ago, we all heard about Bethany Hamilton and even our own John Perkins got bit by one surfing New Smyrna.
