Check out the fun at Gorkins Halloween bash. All the usual characters were in the house. Tupat "The Ultimate Grueler", Nils "Obama" Schweizer, Casey "the Sheriff" collins, and of course Count Gorkula. The stripper pole got plenty of use as the young hotties danced and trapsized about at the new Castle (Gorkins house). Looks as though some of the younger crew tried to sneak in as Golden boy Evan G, was seen in the photos. Mason Ho wins the Pro Junior. Mason completely dominated the Pro Jr final with the highest combined heat total of the event 19.01 - his last wave should have been a ten. If you weren't at the lane to witness the win, hopefully you were watching online. Mason had a great week in what has been a tough year for the third year WQS surfer. ASP World Tour number six, C.J. Hobgood blazed to victory in an Australia heavy final at the International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games. Hobgood, who was in full form through out the event, bested Aussies Kai Otton, Dayyan Neve and Heath Joske to claim the Open Mens gold medal and secure a silver medal for Team USA. However, Australia was able to defend their gold medal team finish, making it their third consecutive win in a row.

Well we had another day of over 100 degree temperatures. No Joke.. The surfing was hot as well. Mason Ho made it through a tight heat into the round of 32. Chris Ward made it up just in time to lose his heat going for broke. He may have lost but at least he didn't safety stance half turns into the cove. There are a good amount of guys riding "Mayhems" or "...Lost" shapes including Kolohe Andino and Granger Larson. Jeff Kargola FMX finals at the Dew Tour The final stop of the Dew Tour, in Orlando FL, ..LOST FMX team rider Jeff Kargola made it through the prelims against current overall leaders Adam Jones, Blake "Bilko" Williams, and Robbie Maddison. When it was all said in done, Adam Jones took the win with Robbie Maddison 2nd and Jeremy Lusk in 3rd. Jeff Kargola finished up 5th overall- his best finish of the year.

I was sitting on the edge of Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago having dinner smack dab in the middle of the city. It was one of those moments that had me reeling with stoke and grateful for such experiences. It always amazes me just how different the world outside of Laguna Beach is. I enjoyed sitting there last night watching the water taxis coming down the river and the peach-colored lights of the sunset bouncing off the forest of tall buildings. Just to the right was the famous Sears Tower, which seemed bigger than life itself.

The 19 year old took out a talented field of international competitors in perfect right barrels on his new Mayhem Shape. Pig dogging on the shoulder in front of the barrel is all Aritz could do given the wave he caught. It is not his fault the judges scored it like he was actually in there. IF the judges had the same angle we had on the webcast (does anyone know?) then the head judge should really intervene cuz they are either not fit to judge or somebody is playing favorites.

finals of the Quiksilver Pro in France. Ace fought hard throughout
the event, but reveled in the head high left hand beach break that

Chendo won Open Mens on his Mayhem, Alessandro Luis landed second in Juniors on his Mayhem, Lucca Mesina won under-12 and leads the rankings, Natalia Labarthe got 3rd in girls under 18 and won girls under 14 while Melanie Giunta landed 2nd in girls under 14.

Riding a Mayhem Shape - Coco Ho made both the Jrs and the Women's WQS final. Coco got the win in the Jrs but came up short against fellow Hawaiian Malia Manuel in the WQS final. …LOST SEALS PERUVIAN NATIONALS It’s been a great year for …Lost in Peru. Our team has really put on a good show and had a blast in the process. The final stop of the Peruvian National Circuit was in Huanchaco this weekend and our surfboard team riders dominated the pumping surf. Cristobal took Juniors and crowned himself Peruvian National Champion of the division. He also made the Open Men’s final and got 3rd, which secured him a 6th spot in the overall Open Men’s ranking. 12/12/07 - It was a Vland treat. The weather started off grumpely and then went into a hayday of glassy waves and big turns. Wardo rode his 5'8'' Gullwing to start things off and then opted to ride The Rocket man's board. The 5'3'' Rocket (Shane Beschen model). Shane was ripping the gullwing and got pitted in the blueroom or greenroom? Not sure which one it was but he was there. This board is really fast, so all you slow surfers buy one of these and you will enhance your surfing like you have never felt before. The following are some shots of all the participant
US Open Circus day 1__You Missed It! Team ...Lost dominates Battle of the Brands event!...at least the first round. We smoked the field in the first round of The Battle Of The Brands, scoring the highest combined heat score of the first round. The contest was a tag team event with each brand's team of four surfers. We looked the strongest on paper going into the final but then things just didn't go our way. Shea's double-wammy wave was a 1.0 and we even managed to get fined 5 points for not getting our last person into the beach. We did finish fourth so that's not too bad.
MASON HO GETS SECOND AT SUNSET PRO JR - QUALIFIES FOR WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 9/20/2007 - Mason Ho placed second behind John John Florence in the Billabong Pro Jr at Sunset Beach last weekend. In the process Mason qualified for the ASP World Junior Championships in Australia (the same contest Mason placed third in last year). Mason snatched the only perfect 10 of the contest in his round three heat against Nathan Rex, Dege O'Connell and Clay Marzo. The Final AM Slam Stop Sun Diego’s 1st annual amateur skate contest series has come to an end. The AmSlam Finals went down this past Sunday at the Clairemont Skatepark. As expected, we witnessed some of the best skating from the entire series on Sunday. All the AmSlam Finalists earned their spot based on points accumulated through the first 5 stops, so congratulations go out to everyone who qualified. But once there, the playing field was evened and everyone was given 2 one-minute runs on the newly remodeled Clairemont street course.

Stop 4 of Sun Diego’s AmSlam Presented by Monster happened this past Saturday, this time at the Escondido Skatepark. The Escondido park is a bit burlier than some of the other parks in the AmSlam series and I wasn’t sure how well the skaters would adapt. Few clips of Kyle Berard X Games Super Park With the new addition to the super park this year Kyle Berard was invited back to the X games 14 circus. It was Kyle's first appearance since 2003 were he finished 10th and in 2002 he finished 3rd in street.
Kyle killed it on Saturday qualifying 2nd out of 20 and advanced to Sunday were they took the top two from each heat of 5 along with the top 3rd place finisher to take it to the finals.
Kyle had his backcrails, barley grinds and cab back lips on lock and placed 3rd but he was taken out by flyaways and a full set a pads Andy Macdonald who had a higher 3rd place score.

Peru Update We held our latest Board Demo at Playa Blanca. The waves were solid 8 feet and kindda closing out so the boards got tested under some heavy conditions. “Pallaron” stole the show whipping his 200 lbs around on a 5’6 RNF in some serious surf. That’s what good design can do!

Stop #1 AmSlam 6 stop Amateur Skateboarding Contest Series Sun Diego's AmSlam Series got underway this past Saturday with Stop 1 at the Clairemont Skatepark. Nearly 100 skaters came out to compete, and every one of them walked away with a little prize package. The top 3 winners in each division got hooked up with a fat bag of goodies and a Trophy Deck for their wall. Diego Najera was the big winner of the day, placing 1st in the Advanced Division and taking home $500 cash and an automatic ticket to the Finals on August 24th.

K-Five Poway Game Of Skate Our friends at K-Five put on another great Game of Skate at the Poway store this last weekend. The sun was shining, the ramps were set up and groms were ready to rip. Diego Najera and Will Fyock were the guys to beat from the previous Game of Skate in Encinitas. Brendan Villanueva and K-Five rider Conner Getzlaft were also guys to look out for.
Will Fyock and Aaron Gomez skated very well but in the end it was Brendan Villanueva who took home the win.

Landing a double 180 kick-flip over the fun box along with many more bangers one local kid took home $600. There was a lot of good local talent and the cash went quick but the best trick of the day was the gap to backsmith down the hubba ledge taking home a hundred bucks.

LOST EL PASO INVITATIONAL ABSOLUTELY EPIC! 4/16/08 - Simply, the waves and level of surfing were on fire at El Paso, Punta Hermosa-Peru.
We lucked out with the swell of the year –perfect direction, solid 6 to 8 feet, low tides, glassy and sunny all day. The stage was set and the surfing went ballistic. We bought every competitor lunch and kept it a good days’ fun by structuring the heats by group of friends. Everyone had a blast! Alvaro Malpartida ended up taking first and Seabass ran out of luck in the final and couldn’t find the waves, like always, and finished fourth. Racing the Baja 500 can't be all that tough' that was the first thing through my head when I got a phone call from Grant Steele Tuesday night, he called asking for a steering stabilizer that I use on my jump bikes to put on a CRF 450 to use in Baja for the SCORE Baja 500. Grant was planning on riding the entire 440mile long race by himself, so I thought what the hell I'm in, should be minor. RETIREMENT RUMORS 10/30/2006: After his embarrassing lost to 18 year-old amateur surfer Marshall Alberga the rumors are that 8 time world champion Kelly Slater is contemplating retirement. He has already pulled out of the Brasil WCT this week, an event he had stated he was going to surf in until his lost to Alberga. Slater also had this to say in today's Florida Today, "I'm still up in the air...it's fun to be home". Not only is Marshall the only Lost rider to beat Kelly in a final he may be the first one to send a world champ into retirement.

BILLABONG CABO BLANCO TUBERIDERS INVITATIONAL Alvaro Malpartida won on his mayhem; Gabriel Villaran and Titi de Col made the final; Seabass lost early, characteristically. Cristobal made the juniors finals but couldn’t find the waves to win. It wasn’t real Cabo, unfortunately, and what should have been a festivity of barrels and spray was in fact a display of snaps and groveling with seldom moments of magic. LOWERS WQS 2008 5/4/08 - The Final was as exciting to watch as the rest of the event. If you weren't there or didn't watch online, lowers pumped for the final two days and we watched an amazing display of talent from many surfers. Two WCT surfers and two gruelers slogging it out on the WQS, grinded their way into the final. But it was Benny B. who was in the best rhythm with the ocean. CJ opened with a 9.00 as Wardo was giving him the inside at the beginning of the heat. It proved to be a crucial decision as there were no waves on offer. Wardo did have a good wave, but CJ foamballed it and somehow avoided an interference. An anticlimactic finish for what was a good run for Wardo. Gorkin blew up through the quarters and semis of the air show with last minute air attempts. A completed one-motion frontside in the quarters, and a huge backside air in the semis, saw him advance into the Final. With Ratboy, Killian, Trekinho, Barca, and Hoyer the final was stacked. Gorkin had a plan to shut everyone out by pulling the "Gorkin flip", which he almost accomplished on his first wave. With a 90% completion, the $7,000 was damn near his. LOST ARTIST PROFILE - HUNG TRAN Hung is the guy who did the "Snap Crackle Lost" tee back in 2005. He also was part of the local crew along which included Kenworthy, Divel, Strander, Godett, Ryan Ray, and many others that helped put Lost on the local map. The gnarliest we ever saw Hung get was when he took on a whole pack of metal freaks at a Brian Ramirez party. MASON HO AWARDED ASP JUNIORS WILD CARD SLOT FOR 2007 After placing an impressive 3rd in the recent ASP Juniors World Championships in Australia Mason Ho was awarded the 2007 World Juniors WQS Wild Card slot for 2007. What does that mean? Mason will now be automatically seeded at least into the round of 144 in all of the 2007 WQS events. This now gives Mason an even greater chance of making the 2008 WCT tour -and judging from Mason's performance at the 2006 US Open in Huntington Beach it's not that far fetched a goal. Look for Mason to rattle a few cages on this year's tour. Good luck Mason.

Kyle Berard wins 10,000 Growing up with a mini ramp in his backyard has paid off for Mr. Kyle Berard.
With his smooth consistent mini ramp skills Kyle took home another win at the Surf Expo mini ramp contest in Orlando Florida. With Volcom forking out a 35,000 purse there was no shortage of talent. Skaters from all over put it down and the session was more than on!! It all ended up with Kyle Berard taking home 1st place and 10,000 of Volcom's money..

MASON HO WINS SUNSET BEACH JUNIOR PRO Mason Ho notched up another win this weekend by taking the ASP 2006 Hard Rock Junior Pro at Sunset Beach. Mason almost didn't make the final after he knocked out one of his fins during the semi-finals. Needing another score Mason took off on a wave, managed to do a turn despite not having an outside fin and got the score he needed to advance. Riding a two year-old board in the final Mason scored an 8 something and never looked back defeating Kyle Ramey, Clay Marzo and John John Florence. Congratulations Mason, now Pops isn't the only one in the house that's won a Sunset contest.

JAY JOHNSON WINS LAKERS SURFBOARD CONTEST The Los Angeles Lakers launched a "Lakerize" your surfboard contest recently. The Lakers' organization picked the top 20 people with the best Lakers design on their surfboard to come to the Laker Beach House in Hermosa on the strand for an afternoon. The Laker girls picked the top 6 boards for the finals and Luke Walton judged and picked the final 3 spots. Lost rider and Surfing Live CEO Jay Johnson's design took first place. REMEMBERING JACK MEYER On Jan 7th I was in Florida for the upcoming Surf Expo driving back to Melbourne Beach from Sebastian Inlet. On the left side of the road were about 20 people surrounding a body on the sidewalk. A man was pounding the bare chest trying to get life back into the body. I'll never forget the sight. The Aussies Prevail in the fourth Round... The swell dropped but the waves are still going off and the competition is pretty heavy. In the first heat Parko and Cory went up against each other in a heavy bout, they where both going for the first wave and the judges ended up giving Cory a interference on Joel resulting in one of Corys waves being cut in half Joel just barely beat Cory with the interference it was a exciting heat. LOST.TV - NSSA 2007 Nationals Video Highlights Hawaii's Tonino Benson and Carrisa Moore have won the Open Mens and Open Womens titles at the 2007 NSSA Nationals. There weren't too many waves coming in down at Lowers for the final day which lead to plenty of interference calls including two on Kolohe Andino during the Open Boys semi-finals. LOST.TV - THE BATTLE OF THE BRANDS: TEAM LOST WINS ...at least the first round. We smoked the field in the first round of The Battle Of The Brands, scoring the highest combined heat score of the first round. The contest was a tag team event with each brand's team of four surfers. We looked the strongest on paper going into the final but then things just didn't go our way. Shea's double-wammy wave was a 1.0 and we even managed to get fined 5 points for not getting our last person into the beach. We did finish fourth so that's not too bad. No need to call Rob or Kelly, the man himself was there to sign for all the groms and girls. In the surfing world going on just feet from the circus Chris Davidson scored the highest single wave score in the round of 24. 9/24/2007 - I woke up at 5:30 in the morning on Saturday and tried to get my act together before I had to go and gruel on down to the Wavehouse in San Diego. What a morning, it was pouring rain and there was even some lightning. Wow, this is going to be fun! Considering the whole thing is going on outside I thought about hanging out in my wetsuit all day. (for those of you that have been living in a cave for the past couple years, the Wavehouse is a man made wave - it's a perfect left).

Axi scored some epic surf on his recent trip - from huge rights to rippable lefts. Axi is definitely not scared of big waves breaking over gnarly rocks. He manages to get himself dry-docked on some pretty heavy ones again but still paddles out for more.

THE SHARK HAS GONE TOO FAR! We are making a killing (almost literally) with our Shark model, but now its gone beyond our grasp. During the Copa Barena finals at Punta Hermosa, Peru a shark decided to show up and give all those surfers riding his shape a run for their money. The shark killed it but pushed too hard and washed in to shore where he stiffened up. It was an awesome final though. For the first time since he paddled around Shane Beschen to a cheap victory in Huntington Beach in 1996, I found myself rooting for Kelly Slater. TRIGGER GUMM PRACTICING FOR WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT Over the weekend MTV’s crew was out in Stillwater, Oklahoma at Cooperland Raceway filming an upcoming Jackass show. Mat Hoffman’s tribute to Evel Knievel brought out the best of the best, to honor Evel by attempting their own record-breaking stunts throughout the 3-day window.
Stunts included record long distance jump on a BMX bike, a back flip on a Harley, and Travis Pastrana going for a backflip with Midget Mike on his lap. But one of the main record breaking stunts is long time Lost team rider, Trigger Gumm attempting to break the world record for longest distance jump on a motorcycle.

With the start of the new year and fresh points on the WQS to be had Shane came to Florida to surf in the 5* WQS at Sebastian Inlet. But this was not the reason Shane Beschen surfed the event. Shane was in Florida to visit family and take part in a wedding for his wife's best friend. Also he visited the EXPO for promotional sales of his new Surfboard models from LOST SURFBOARDS, his Rocket Model is a hot item, the Florida Boys and guys like Gorkin have been going to town on them. Surf Expo Reptilian Ramp Jam SKATEPARK OF TAMPA and Volcom always put on a good mini ramp contest twice a year at the Surf Expo in Orlando Florida. 100 feet of hips, extensions, escalators and coping built by Tim Pain and Volcom forking out 30,000 the contest was on.

BEDE WINS PIPE MASTERS Bede Durbidge out surfed everyone to take out the Pipe Masters and the
Vans Triple Crown. The man was on a mission, looking faster,
sharper and more comfortable than anyone. The waves weren't exactly
ideal, 2-3ft cross shore waves, make this the smallest Pipe Masters
final that we can remember, but Bede dominated, making the most of the waves on
offer, and always being in the right spot at the right time. Dean
Morrison had his best result of the year, taking out second place,
with Pancho Sulivan 3rd and Joel Parkinson 4th.
